Met het aflopen van de NAB kan er weer vooruit gekeken worden. Avid introduceerde versie 5 van Media Composer. Met Versie 5 nemen ze serieus een directe aanval op hun ooit bedreigde positie.
Versie 5 heeft bijna alles wat gevraagd werd. Er is toegevoegd realtime audio effects (laat maar eindelijk) er is toegevoegd een nieuwe manier van timeline editing waar de drag and drop editor van tegenwoordig graag mee werkt en via de eerder geintroduceerde AMA engine is werkelijkwaar bijna alles mogelijk geworden.
